Helping those who cannot help themselves

Bethany Project

Bethany Project

Forget what you know about orphanages – cold, stark rooms with row upon row of beds. Bethany Village, run by Africa Renewal Ministries, is a welcoming community of homes for children who have no other place to turn.  A place where they have a family.

WHAT IS THE NEED?

In the nation of Uganda, 2.7 million children (approximately one in ten) are orphans.  Compared to non-orphaned children, their mortality rate is higher and they are less likely to attend school1.  Education, medical support and welcoming families are in short supply.

WHAT’S THE SOLUTION?

Taking the maxim It takes a village to raise a child literally, Bethany is a group of homes with an onsite medical clinic, school and farm, among other things.  Each home houses a family of 12-15 children and their house mother.  You can learn more about Bethany Village here. Their approach is transforming the lives of these children.  However, they need your help.

WHAT CAN I DO?

Each home costs around $1200 to $1500 CDN per month to run.  With 12-15 children in a home, that’s only $100 per month to house, clothe, feed, educate and care for the medical needs of a child, all while being a member of a loving family.  There is no shortage of children requiring care – Bethany regularly needs to turn children away.  All they need is the funding to give these kids a future.  With a monthly commitment of any amount, you can change a child’s trajectory and help someone who cannot help themselves.

HOW DO I START?

Will you give these children a chance to succeed?  If so, there are two ways you can set up your monthly support.
