Helping those who cannot help themselves

Meet Justus From Glory House

Justus was abandoned by an unknown person in Katwe, a Kampala suburb, on Sept. 11, 2014. The case was reported to the Police by a well-wisher.  Justus was referred to the probation officer of Makindye and placed with Loving Hearts Babies Home, our sister organization that looks after abandoned babies. All the combined efforts of the local authorities and the Police to locate the parents or relatives of the child proved futile. Their efforts included a series of radio announcements, newspaper advertisements, posters in the community, along with
regular follow-up with the local Council authority of the area where the boy was found. But no one came forward for Justus.

On Feb. 10, 2015, Justus was referred to Bethany Children’s Home because he was then three years old and ready to start school. Justus had outgrown the age acceptable for babies kept at Loving Hearts Babies Home. Justus came to live in Glory house at Bethany, which is looked after by Home Mother, Harriet Naigaga. He came into her loving hands and she became a real mother to him from the first day he arrived. Justus goes to Bethany Christian School and currently is in the Middle Class (Nursery). He looks so much better now, is healthy, and he is growing into a fine young man.

Justus’ story is one of many stories in Bethany Village. Children who were abandoned to die on the street, in garbage pits, and toilets, but by the grace of God, ended up in Bethany and their lives are never the same.
